Islamabad

How plots are being allotted in posh and expensive sectors of Islamabad is an interesting phenomena and new facts are throwing light on this process. In one case the officer who allots plots to others has himself acquired an expensive plot, and says he has the right to do so.

Federal Government Employees Housing Foundation (FGEHF) Director General Sher Afzal, however, said that the plot was allotted to him in accordance with rules.

But interestingly before he got the plot in Sector I-8, the FGEHF Executive Committee offered plots to CDA chairman and all the six CDA members in other sectors.

But these offers were not meant to bribe CDA for getting the plot in I-8 sector, Mr Sher Afzal told ‘The News’. Read more »

How To Clear The Mess?

Posted in Pakistan, Politics on April 23rd, 2009 by Roman

[BY IMRAN KHAN]

The reason why there is so much despondency in Pakistan is because there is no road map to get out of the so-called War on Terror – a nomenclature that even the Obama Administration has discarded as being a negative misnomer. To cure the patient the diagnosis has to be accurate, otherwise the wrong medicine can sometimes kill the patient. In order to find the cure, first six myths that have been spun around the US-led “Global War on Terror” (GWOT) have to be debunked. Read more »

I’m A Lonely Road Of Broken Dreams
Its A Boulevard That I’m Searching For

These Stars Are All So Dull
Its The Moon That I’m Searching For

Happiness Is So Angry At Me
Its Life That I’m Searching For

There Is A Crowd Around Me At All Times
Its a Friend That I’m Searching For

My Life Is Just Like Path
Its A Destination That I’m Searching For

Don’t Know What Is It That I’ve Lost
May Be Its ‘ME’ That I’m Searching For !!!

The Silent Majority: AND THE EXTREMISTS WITHIN

Posted in Pakistan on April 20th, 2009 by Roman

Pakistan is standing at crossroads. There is a freedom struggle going on in Balochistan, war in Northern and Tribal Areas between the Taliban forces and the Pak Army amidst all this energy crisis, water crisis, and political crisis. Some fear a repeat of ’71 is inevitable. U.S. is threatening a unilateral strike in the North which can easily escalate and spread across the country. The future remains uncertain. We—the Silent Majority—are the ones who are actually paying the price (with our lives, interest rates, inflation, fear of uncertainty etc). Perhaps it is about time we start thinking about matters other than just our families and our careers—after all, Pakistan is in need of help. But this begs the question: what exactly is or should be our role in this entire drama? Or should we just do what we do the best: be silent and spectate and wait for things to settle down and resolve by itself?

Drinks with alcohol content in Pakistan

Posted in Pakistan on April 12th, 2009 by Roman

Asalaam-o-alaykum to All,

Please spread the word that the can of Panda Lemonade Shandy which is easily available across Pakistan has alcoholic content in its ingredients. Nowadays we are seeing different types of imported juices and drinks available in shops and markets. The Panda drink seems to have been imported from Dubai.

Please make it a habit to read the ingredients of all imported food/drink products before consuming them and request your family and friends to do the same. Also, there are many sites on the Internet which can help us in finding the permissibility in Islam of a particular ingredient found in any food or drink.

I am attaching two snap shots of the Panda drink – one of the pics shows the ingredients. The ingredients clearly state that it has ” Not more than 0.5% Alcohol by Volume”. Besides, it also shows that beer content is also present.

The drink shown in the attached pictures was bought just a few days back in Lahore and the shop owner, most probably like other shop owners in Pakistan, was totally unaware of the fact that the drink has alcoholic content in it.

7 Fairies and the Only Duwarff………

Posted in Self-discovery on April 12th, 2009 by Just........ JUNO !!!

7-fairies-and-the-only-duwarff3
Day before yesterday (10th April), we were blessed with our familes 7th cute doll. I don’t come from a family who has any taboo’s against girls, but true we all had a desire to have a son for whom we choose a name when I got married back in 2000.
Humza, a long awaited baby boy, who denied me the previllage to be a father as I got 2 daughters (Zainab and Amna), refused to go to my younger sister (Ashi) who is gifted by Allah with 3 littles sweeties and now my younger bro’s first baby doll.
My elder sister has a son (Mashallah). A toofan named Faiz, but he is not counted in the quest of Hamza……….lol.
May be this demand of naming a baby boy Hamza is the reason for which, me, my younger sister and younger bro got in return faries. But who cares……………… these little, sweet fairies are as adorable and loveable as Humza would be.
But still the desire of having a boy, running around, doing all kinds of boy playing, jumping and fighting is still deep in the heart.
We have been, playing with dolls, kitchen sets etc for a long time now. I guess now we need some gun action, some cricket, some wrestling etc …….lol.
Jokes a part boy or girl doesnt make any difference. We are lucky that Allah gave us the “Naimat” of healthy childern in the family.
May Allah give us strength to raise them well, fullfilling all there needs, raise them to be good human beings, and good muslims. Ameen

Passion

Posted in Self-discovery on April 6th, 2009 by Munira

It’s hard not to be passionate when you are passionate.
And when you are passionate, you are a dreamer.
And when you’re a dreamer, you tend to follow your ideals.
And when you go for ideals, you strive for the best.
And when you strive for the best, you don’t quit.
And when you don’t quit, you keep on going and giving and growing…
And sky’s the limit but it will never satiate my thirst. I live for passion.
